As part of a semi-serious New Year’s Resolution (and both of us looking for new jobs), we thought we’d attempt the Uber Frugal Month by Mrs. Frugalwoods. It’s more me wanting to do this, I manage all of the finances, but Eli is also on board.
Liz’s suggestion for today is: “be bold and write down where you want to be in 10 years, in 20 years, in 40 years… you get the picture. And then, put that piece of paper in your wallet.”
- 10 years… I want to have fully paid off our mortgage (by the end of 2017) and have enough investment income that I don’t have to work unless I want to. KK will be pretty much all grown up, and I want KK to have the money skills that are needed for life.
- 20 years… I think I’ll be having a mid-life crisis by then. It’s almost as much time as I have been alive, and I’m not sure what I want to achieve in this next part.
Eli has been seriously unhelpful with these questions. She just ‘wants to be alive’.
I had a frugal fail today. I had a free voucher for a swim at our local pool, but it expired on the 31st of December! So it cost us $17.40 for a swim at our local pool (two concessions and a child).
January’s running expenses (and a catalogue of posts in this series so far):
- None
- swim -$17.40, PayPal payment for Lego sale $69.40
