While visiting Kent Island near Washington DC we had a hotel pre-booked at Sleep Inn. unfortunately it’s not part of the Wyndham tribe so I didn’t get any points for it. Again, I don’t know how much we paid for a double Queen room as I didn’t book it. Check in was a little complicated as we had used a different credit card to book the rooms online at Hotels.com As I was using a debit card to pay, for some reason it could only be applied to one of the rooms. Never mind. Sahid sorted it out eventually and signed me up for the rewards program pretty easily. I could only use them on the one room that was attached specifically to my credit card though. I’m hopeful of a free stay but I only have 2 weeks of vacation left and 2 nights in strange hotels so I might not make it. Sahil was friendly the whole time and always acknowledged us as we were going out the front door.<\/p>\n
The rooms were very comfortable and the housekeeping staff impeccable in their service. Considering that we often were in the room when they called around the first (and second) time they always came back. We always managed to leave our bed in a huge mess (with pjs, stuffed animals and a best blanket in the middle) and we would come back to everything neat and the stuffed animal attractively displayed on the pillow.<\/p>\n
I’m not quite sure why the towels were changed every day as the brochure stated that it would be every 3 days, but I didn’t worry about it too much. The shower was huge, with a very decent water flow and hot enough temperatures. I took my time to luxuriate in it. The air-conditioner was quite old, with no specific temperature settings but it didn’t matter. The small bar fridge was very small, but was sufficient for what we needed. We actually used the microwave this time! All was fine. I also tested the iron on my needlework – it was ok. Nothing special, but then I didn’t need anything special either.<\/p>\n
Breakfast was as standard, but they had an excellently stocked yogurt fridge. I ended up taking some extras every day to feed the hungry KK on the run. I also filled my thermos with the orange juice on offer. Barbara, the only kitchen staff member I met, was very attentive and good natured. KK made friends with her right away and Barbara proceeded to help her with everything!<\/p>\n
All in all, a reasonable room and excellent staff. I don’t know if I’d stay in other Sleep Inns, but I would certainly attend this one again. Not recommended if you can’t climb stairs though, as they don’t have a lift (so only the ground floor apartments are suitable).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
