I’ve even read back over several years of archives. I agree with many of her principles, including wasting less, spending less and making the most of what you have. With this in mind, I want to introduce her meme – Food Waste Friday. The idea is that you post pictures of food items that have had to be tossed out over the week.

I’m not so good at remembering to take photos of food before tossing it (particularly when it’s smelly). So you’ll just have to put up with some words.

Undoubtedly, someone else in my household has also tossed things this week as I’m not the sole user of our fridge, but hopefully there isn’t too much waste going on.

I’ve tossed:

2 hard boiled eggs that I brought for Eli’s and my lunch, but instead of being eaten, they ended up sitting at room temperature all day. Then I was too afraid to eat them.

Some leftover cucumber seeds. We made cucumber ‘boats’ from our home-grown cucumbers, and scraped out the seeds, but then couldn’t put all the seeds back in as filling.

Hopefully I won’t be directly responsible for any more waste next week.

I’ve been reading The Frugal Girl for a while now.
