I made a pledge to myself to write something everyday. I figured between having a blog, emailing friends, writing reviews, writing some fiction, reading and writing about scientific articles and keeping project notes I’d manage it.<\/p>\n
I used to have two email friends, now I’m down to one. And she owes me an email! (If you’re reading this right now, go write me a reply). Replying goes in fits and starts, since sometimes we both have stacks of work to do.<\/p>\n
I’ve started reviewing in spurts as well. I do about 4-5 reviews at a time depending on how many I am behind. I’ll take notes at the time, but those still need writing up. It’s easy enough to do, I just need to sit down at a computer and actually do them. Since I shouldn’t be doing it during work time, I feel guilty trying it, then I hardly even get the laptop out at home.<\/p>\n
I found a writing critique partner who writes plays. I did the first piece of fictional writing I’d done in forever in prep for a meeting a couple of weeks back. But then I started teaching again, and coffee and critiquing fell by the wayside. I have so many good ideas, I just need to get them out.<\/p>\n
I’m also failing at reading scientific articles. My latest issue of Cosmos is still sitting in my bag, in my car! Much good it does me there. All the advice I hear is to keep reading and writing, and it seems I can’t sustain either.<\/p>\n
Finally, keeping up to date on project notes, even though I’ve got a review coming up in less than 2 months time, is not going so well. I have to force myself to sit down.<\/p>\n
I’m barely writing this, and it’s only because I’m waiting for an email to get back to me, and I can’t be bothered doing anything else right now. Help!<\/p>\n
